Too Excited To Sleep? Why Rest Matters More Than You Think ✨

If you have a preschooler, you already understand the phrase “too excited to sleep.”

They’re tired. You can see it. And somehow, that’s the exact moment they decide they are not sleepy at all. They want one more game. One more story. One more hug. :-).

I’ve been there more times than I can count.

I’ve also seen what happens when kids don’t get the rest they need. Short tempers. Tears over tiny things. The struggle to focus. The “I'm not tired” moments that really mean, “I’m exhausted.”

That’s why I wrote Too Excited To Sleep!

Jack is a preschool mouse who would much rather play than nap. He doesn’t want to slow down. He’s convinced sleep will make him miss out on something fun. But what he discovers — and what so many children eventually learn — is that rest doesn’t take away energy.

It gives it back.

Sleep isn’t just about closing your eyes. It’s when your child’s brain organizes what they learned that day. It’s when memories strengthen. It’s when their body resets and their emotions settle.

When children are well rested, they:

• Listen better

• Focus longer

• Handle frustration more calmly

• Enjoy their day more

Rest truly is a superpower.

Sometimes the bravest thing a child can do is stop playing and choose to rest. That lesson may seem small, but it’s powerful.

If naptime feels like a daily struggle in your home, you’re not alone. Maybe Jack’s story can help your little one see sleep in a new way — not as something that ends the fun, but something that fuels it.

Because tomorrow really is better after a good night’s sleep. 😴✨
