Meet The Author Tammy Christian

As a little girl, I was fascinated by books. I often wondered how someone could take an idea, create characters, find the right words, and turn it all into a story. My younger sister and I spent hours using our imaginations and pretending to be different characters. We would place long towels over our heads, pretend they were long hair, and become “Suzie” and “Janice.” We didn’t know it then, but those simple childhood moments were helping shape the storyteller I would one day become.

In 2008, I put my first children’s story on paper, a draft of what would eventually become Eric the Colorful Cricket Starts Kindergarten. At the time, writing was simply a hobby. I had a story, but I had no idea what to do with it or how to turn it into a published book. Life got busy, and the draft was tucked away with other documents on my computer.

In 2013, I wrote another story, which would later become Too Excited to Sleep! Once again, life took me in another direction, and the story found its way into a folder on my computer.

Then, in 2021, something changed. After speaking with a fellow published author who encouraged me to bring my stories to life, I went searching for those old drafts. This time, I was ready. I began writing again, revising my stories, learning about publishing, and taking the steps toward becoming a published author.

In 2023, Too Excited to Sleep! became my first published children’s book. Two years later, the story I first wrote in 2008 finally came full circle when Eric the Colorful Cricket Starts Kindergarten became a published book, followed by Eric the Colorful Cricket Saves Christmas.
